Bahamas, Belize, Haiti and Jamaica have been named as major transit or major illicit drug-producing countries by the United States.
President Donald Trump made the announcement in the 2026 fiscal year drug policy report to Congress.
However, the White House clarified that being listed does not necessarily reflect a country’s counter-narcotics efforts or cooperation with the US.
Factors like geography, trade routes, and economic conditions often contribute to a country’s inclusion, even when strong enforcement is in place.
