The US has ordered the deployment of 10 F-35 fighter jets to a Puerto Rico airfield to conduct operations against drug cartels.
Reuters reported that anonymous sources said the planes are expected to arrive by next week.
The addition to the current US military presence in the southern Caribbean follows a US led attack near Venezuela earlier this week, that struck a boat believed to be carrying drugs, killing 11 people.
Last evening, tensions continued after two Venezuelan jets flew near a US Navy ship, a move the Pentagon called “highly provocative” and deemed designated to interfere with counter narco-terror operations.
