Haiti’s fight against crime will received additional support from the United Nations and Japan.

A new initiative has been launched to tackle rising violence, drug trafficking, and organised crime.

Led by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the effort will support Haitian authorities by setting up and equipping border control units to intercept weapons, narcotics, and other illegal goods.

The move builds on Security Council resolutions passed in 2023 and 2024.
