The United Nations has condemned US military strikes against boats in the Caribbean and Pacific Oceans.
An AP News report said High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, called the attacks “unacceptable”, urging both an immediate stop to the strikes and an investigation into their human cost.
A UN spokeswoman stated that the strikes, targeting boats allegedly carrying illegal drugs from South America, violate international human rights law.
While President Trump has defended the strikes as part of a broader drug control strategy, the campaign has raised several dis significant division across the region.
