A T&T national has pleaded guilty in the US to conspiring to smuggle firearms to this country.
35-year-old Shem Wayne Alexander, who was arrested in Jamaica last November, now faces up to five years in federal prison.
Between 2019 and 2022, Alexander and his co-conspirators illegally shipped guns, ammunition, and gun parts from Florida to T&T.
On April 21st 2021, the shipment, concealed in two punching bags, was seized in a joint operation with police and customs officials, with assistance from US and Jamaican authorities.
