49th CARICOM Summit

Foreign Affairs Minister Sean Sobers says there is a keen interest to strengthen bilateral relations with Jamaica, given that both are two of the major economies in the region.

A release from the Ministry underscored the large volume of trade between the two countries, which currently stands at TT$1.6 billion.

It also points to increasing private sector links between Jamaica and T&T and its role in strengthening bilateral and intra-regional trade in CARICOM.

Mr Sobers met with Jamaica’s Foreign Affairs Minister for discussions on trade and investment relations, immigration issues, and other areas of cooperation for national and regional security.

The meeting happened prior to the 49th CARICOM Heads of Government Conference, currently taking place in Jamaica.
