The Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation says it is not responsible for garbage collection at the HDC developments in Maloney Gardens and Wallerfield.
In a statement, the Corporation says it intervened on several occasions in the past to provide limited relief, given the serious public health risk posed by the accumulation of garbage.
It insists however this was a temporary measure to alleviate immediate concerns and do not constitute an assumption of responsibility for garbage collection in the areas.
The Corporation is instead encouraging persons in HDC-managed communities to direct their concerns regarding garbage collection schedules and arrangements to the appropriate agency
