Homicide detectives are set to charge a 17-year-old boy from Golconda with the murder of local father of two, Rajkumar Pope.
The Trinidad Express reported that investigators from the Region Three Homicide Bureau and Ste Madeleine Police concluded their probe, submitting the case to the Director of Public Prosecutions on Wednesday.
The teenager is expected to appear in court on Thursday to face murder charges.
Pope died on March 26, hours after he was beaten at a mini-mart in Friendship Village, near San Fernando, while buying a loaf of bread.
Security footage shows the teenager attacking Pope inside the shop while another adult relative tried to intervene.
The teenager and the relative were detained the next day, with the relative later released.
A post-mortem confirmed Pope died from blunt force trauma and heart complications.
This incident has shocked the community, highlighting ongoing concerns about youth violence in the area.
