TCL says any increase in gas prices will lead to an increase in the price of cement.
In a letter, the company’s General Manager, Gonzalo Castillo, reportedly stated outright that “TCL does not support the gas price increase”.
According to Mr Castillo, the company has been experiencing significant increases in manufacturing costs, including raw materials, packaging and general inflationary pressures.
He adds that a gas price increase would represent a “material and unavoidable cost impact that requires a corresponding revision to our pricing”.
Mr Castillo says TCL is now awaiting the final determination on natural gas pricing, expected by January 31st 2026.
This development meanwhile has been noted by former Energy Minister Stuart Young, who labelled it “an example of the UNC’s incompetence”.
Mr Young maintains that any increase in gas prices will have far reaching consequences, and believes that food prices will also increase.
