The West Indies suffered a 179-run drubbing in the third and final ODI in the Bangladesh series, handing the hosts a 2-1 victory.

The series was tied going into this game, after the Windies snatched a victory in the second match during a tense Super Over.

But their fight faded in this game, as Bangladesh scored 296 for 8 in 50 overs, after winning the toss in Game 3 this morning.

Saif Hassan (80) and Soumya Sarkar (91) put together a solid foundation for the home team’s final score of 296/8 in 50 overs.

Spinner Akeal Hosein was the pick of the West Indies bowlers, taking 4 for 41 in his 10 overs, while top-order batsman Alick Athanaze chipped in with 2/37.

The chase fell apart early as the West Indies lost regular wickets without pushing the score up at the same quick rate.

After 30.1 overs, they were all out for 117 as only five batsmen got double figure scores, the highest being Hosein’s 27 runs.

Nasum Ahmed and Rishad Hossain were largely unplayable, sharing six of the 10 West Indies wickets that fell, though Bangladesh’s two other bowlers shared the other four.

The teams now move onto the T20I series, to be played on Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week.
