A 26-year-old soldier is among three persons arrested in connection with the discovery of a submachine gun, loaded with a magazine containing 22 rounds of ammunition.
During an operation in Arima yesterday, police discovered the weapon in a car, along with a pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition.
The three male suspects, all between the ages of 25 and 27, were arrested in connection with the finds.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old man from Chin Chin Road was arrested yesterday for the possession of a pistol, loaded with a magazine containing one round of ammunition.
