Key concerns of lower-income earners ahead of Monday’s National Budget include job security, affordable essentials, and better access to government support.

Revan Teelucksingh, President of SEWA- TT, who works closely with vulnerable communities, spoke to 103.1FM News about what would be most beneficial to them.

He urged the Government to regularize contract employment, invest in local infrastructure and streamline steadier job opportunities through public service hiring.

He added that by regularizing temporary and/or contract workers, there comes a better chance to access loans, which would provide an ease to the lower-income earners in society.

Mr Teelucksingh also stressed the urgent need to streamline government systems so NGOs can serve their communities more efficiently.
