Sangre Grande Carnival 2026

The 2026 Sangre Grande Carnival has been hailed as one of the safest and most enjoyable in recent years, thanks to the cooperation and community spirit of local residents.

Chairman of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation, Kenwyn Phillip, expressed his gratitude to the public and officials in a statement yesterday.

“As Chairman, I take this opportunity to sincerely thank the people of Sangre Grande for working together to deliver one of the safest and most enjoyable Carnival celebrations in recent times. Your cooperation, discipline, and community spirit made this achievement possible,” he said.

Phillip extended special thanks to Honourable Michelle Benjamin, Minister of Culture and Community Development, and the National Carnival Commission (NCC), as well as Honourable Khadijah Ameen, Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, for their support through the Upkeep Public Spaces Programme.

“Their continued partnership was invaluable in ensuring that our Carnival was both vibrant and well-organized,” he added.

Commendations were also given to Kevin Thomas, Chairman of the Eastern Environmental Foundation Committee, the Cumuto/Manzanilla Carnival Committee, and officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Eastern Division and Municipal Police for maintaining public safety throughout the festivities.

Phillip also recognized the contributions of the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC), local DJs, band leaders, the Guaico Presbyterian School Pan, Matthew Steel Pan, fellow council members, and sponsors who played integral roles in the success of the celebrations.

Looking ahead, Phillip emphasized the importance of continued collaboration. “Sangre Grande Carnival can only get better. Together, we will continue to build a celebration that reflects the pride, culture, and unity of our region,” he said.

Residents and officials alike celebrated the Carnival’s success, marking a highlight for Sangre Grande’s cultural calendar and reinforcing the region’s reputation for community-driven festivities.
