President Christine Kangaloo says Ramleela offers timeless values that can shape a better Trinidad and Tobago.
She was speaking today at the first-ever staging of the traditional theatrical presentation at The President’s House in its 149-year-old history.
The President praised the youth performers and highlighted the values which Ramleela teaches, such as respect, courage, loyalty, and faith, qualities she believes can guide the nation forward.
Students from El Dorado North and Tunapuna Hindu Primary Schools performed scenes from the Ramayan, accompanied by tassa and storytelling.
The portrayal culminated with the burning of a 30-foot Ravan effigy, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, which was constructed by the Swaha Hindu College.
