The South West Regional Health Authority says the Point Fortin Hospital is not closing, disputing claims circulating on social media.
In a statement, the Authority says the claims are inaccurate and misleading, with the facility continuing to provide essential health services to residents of Point Fortin and environs.
It also says while the movement of equipment between facilities is a routine operational practice, there has been no transfer of life-saving critical equipment to the Couva Children’s Hospital.
In the coming months, the SWRHA plans to roll out an expanded suite of clinical services at the Point Fortin Hospital.
