A Penal man has been charged with 17 offences arising out of a robbery on July 28th.
According to police reports, two brothers and their families were in their separate homes on the same compound in Barrackpore when six assailants launched an attack.
The victims were reportedly beaten with firearms, their homes ransacked, family members assaulted, and three cell-phones stolen.
The suspects then fled in a vehicle belonging to one of the victims.
The 25-year-old accused was arrested on August 31st and charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of robbery with violence, two counts of larceny motor vehicle, one count of larceny, five counts of false imprisonment, one count of interfering with a motor vehicle, one count of malicious damage to a motor vehicle and one count of kidnapping.
He was due to appear before a High Court Master in San Fernando today.
