MP and Minister Barry Padarath is backing the Prime Minister’s support for US action to tackle the international narco-drug trade.
In a statement issued today, he maintained that this country has become a major transhipment point for international traffickers.
He added that murders in T&T are not random, but are instead “inextricably tied to the drug trade, to turf wars, to gang control, and to the blood money that fuels organised crime.”
As such, Me Padarath insisted that cutting off the cartels, will see a reduction in the killings.
He also dismissed the criticism leveled by the PNM over the PM’s support for the US action, accusing the party of allowing drug lords to operate with impunity during its time in office.
