The prime minister says more than 2,000 children will benefit from private sponsorships in the Siparia constituency.
Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, says each child will receive a school bag, essential stationery and cash vouchers redeemable at local bookstores.
She says many families reached out to her as MP in that constituency, asking for help in getting their children ready for school.
The Siparia MP said the items in this back-to-school initiative represents hope, opportunity, and the possibility of a better life.
