The TTPS says it will investigate the circumstances surrounding the resignation of Officer Russell Bedasse.
The officer, who confirmed his resignation in a social media video, stepped down days after his mother was found dead under suspicious circumstances.
In the video Mr Bedasse has rejected condolences from senior police, saying the TTPS failed to support him when he needed help to find his missing mother.
He accused the service of moving swiftly to retrieve his uniform but failing to act promptly on his missing persons report.
In a Guardian Media report, Deputy Police Commissioner Junior Benjamin confirmed the resignation and said proper protocols were followed, but assured all will be done for Mr Bedasse to receive support services moving forward.
