Rest assured – there has been no recent increase in cases of bat biting or rabies among animals in T&T.
This comes from the Ministry of Agriculture, which says incidents of bat biting, from vampire bats, have historically affected livestock in rural farming communities.
However it notes that suspected cases are promptly investigated and addressed.
The public is being urged though, to remain vigilant and report any unusual behaviour in animals, evidence of bat bites, or suspected rabies cases immediately to the nearest County Veterinary Office.
