Protesters have set fire to Nepal’s parliament building as anti-corruption protests continue to escalate.

This follows the recent resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli after widespread discontent over a social media ban and government corruption.

Yesterday demonstrations, led by young people, forced police to open fired on the crowds, killing 19 people.

The country’s President Ram Chandra Poudel, has made a public appeal for protesters to have discussions to find a peaceful resolution and stop further escalation of the situation.

Flights at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport have been suspended and the airport has been closed, according to the arrivals and departures board on its website.
