Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki has been appointed as the interim Prime Minister, following the collapse of the previous administration due to fatal protests this week.
The announcement, which came on Friday from the President’s office, said she is expected to be sworn-in on Friday.
Reuters reported Ms Karki was the preferred choice of the protesters, who cite her reputation for honesty and integrity and a stance against corruption.
This comes after violent protests against a social media ban and corruption this week, forced the resignation of the former Prime Minister.
