Repairs are planned for sections of the airport access road to the new ANR Robinson International Airport terminal, in Tobago.
During a media conference today, Secretary of Public Infrastructure and Transport, Nathisha Charles-Pantin, said plans include improvements to the roadway and drainage infrastructure, aimed at reducing flooding in wetland areas.
Works will be carried out in coordination with relevant stakeholders and agencies to ensure all environmental considerations are addressed before construction begins.
The Division of Public Infrastructure and Transport will also implement a targeted traffic improvement and school zone safety initiative, which aims to enhance traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and overall traffic management.
To address congestion and safety risks, particularly around key schools zones, including Bon Accord, Mason Hall, Top Hill, and Speyside, which were selected based on observed safety challenges.
The initiative will be rolled out in phases and measures include road prioritization, one-way traffic where appropriate, clearer signage, and improved road markings.
