The Ministry of Education says there is no reason for any teacher strike, as recent wage talks with the union in the implementation phase.
This statement followed claims that several schools across the country dismissed students early, amid reports that many teachers did not show up to school today.
The Ministry assured that schools remain safe and fully open, with all 143 Government and Government-Assisted ECCE centres operating, with steady student attendance.
Education Minister Dr. Michael Dowlath praised teachers who reported for duty, especially during this critical period in the academic calendar and called for all stakeholders to uphold the responsibility of safeguarding students’ education.
The Ministry reminded parents and guardians to continue sending students to school.
