The Government says it alone will handle repairs to the UWI South Debe Campus through its main executing agency, Palo Seco Agricultural Enterprises Limited.
Minister Saddam Hosein says Cabinet appointed PSAEL as the sole contractor for rehabilitation works, after a 2025 assessment found the campus in a “state of serious disrepair.”
He adds that UWI was kept informed throughout and dismissed claims that the University would be required to carry out any of the works.
Minister Hosein says the priority is now to have the campus ready for the next academic year.
He adds that no Cabinet decision has yet been made on the programmes or faculties to be offered.
Minister Hosein was speaking during today’s Post-Cabinet media briefing.
