A 27-year-old maxi taxi driver has been arrested for assaulting a licensing officer.
Around 10:30am yesterday, officers responded to the incident along the Southern Main Road, Curepe, in the vicinity of the East Grove Housing Development.
They interviewed a licensing officer who said he was executing his duties when the driver of a green band maxi struck him twice on the face with his fist, chased the Licensing Authority vehicle with a spanner, and then left the scene.
Investigators went to the Caroni Licensing Office, where the suspect was identified and held.
A video showing part of the confrontation has gone viral on social media.
