Police have arrested a man following the alleged sexual assault of a woman during J’Ouvert celebrations on Monday morning.
Officers say the 34-year-old victim was playing mas along Tragarete Road, Port of Spain, when the suspect approached her from behind and attempted a non-consensual act.
The woman pushed him away, and private security detained the suspect before handing him over to police.
He remains at the St. Clair Police Station. Authorities are reminding the public that sexual assault is a serious criminal offence and will be dealt with urgently.
