Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander says he will continue to serve in the role for as long as the Prime Minister wants.
His response follows calls for him to step down in the wake of a police-involved shooting that left Joshua Samaroo dead and Kaia Sealy paralyzed.
Mr Alexander said he understands the hurt behind these calls, but urged that due process is allowed to take place.
On the matter of Carnival security, Mr Alexander urged persons to comply with instructions from officers.
He insists that such instructions are not intended to be malicious, but are instead aimed at ensuring public safety.
Mr Alexander was speaking during a media briefing held today at the UNC Headquarters.
