Over three hectares of land in Chaguanas has been handed over to ASJA for a Muslim cemetery.
This handover took place today, with the land to be leased to the organization for 199 years.
During today’s post cabinet news conference, Minister of Land and Legal Affairs, Saddam Hosein, said he was able to bring this matter to a close, after being in the works for a number of years.
Mr Hosein also announced that 22 Islamic associations will receive grant funding, amounting to $1.3 million.
He says this will allow for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations to be held throughout the country.
