Netflix has officially announced a sequel to the global smash hit K-Pop Demon Hunters, but the release date has not yet been revealed.
The original film, released in June 2025, became a global super-hit, and by August 2025, it became the most watched movie on Netflix, with over 500 million views to date.
The sequel, announced yesterday, is the first project under the exclusive multi-year deal with co-directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans.
Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, K-Pop Demon Hunters follows the adventures of the fictional K-pop girl group Huntr/x, who fight demons using both music and martial arts.
HUNTR/X is the first K-pop girl group to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, and their song “Golden” was the first K-pop track to win a Grammy.
K-Pop Demon Hunters has also been nominated for two Oscars: Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Golden.”
