High Commission of India celebrates Republic Day

The High Commission of India celebrated India’s 77th Republic Day on 26 January at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Cultural Cooperation in Mount Hope, Trinidad.

The occasion, which commemorated the adoption of the Indian Constitution on 26 January 1950, affirms India’s commitment to democratic values.

Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago, Sean Sobers, attended as Chief Guest, and addressed the gathering alongside India’s High Commissioner, Dr Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit.

The event featured a ceremonial lighting of the lamp by national and religious leaders, symbolising unity and shared values.

The celebration brought together dignitaries from across Trinidad and Tobago, members of the Diplomatic Corps, and representatives of international organizations.
