A motion to extend the current State of Emergency for an additional three months will be brought before the Lower House this afternoon.
The motion, expected to be moved by Attorney General John Jeremie, follows the President’s declaration on March 3rd of the SOE and the grounds for its basis.
Following the declaration, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar reaffirmed the Government’s firm stance to confront criminal networks.
She stressed that the measure is based on clear evidence and will not be swayed by political criticism.
