The Ministry of the People has moved to clear the backlog of monies owed to former staff of the St. Jude’s School for Girls.

Yesterday, Minister Vandana Mohit presented funds totalling $1,510,745 to facilitate the payment of outstanding contract gratuities and severance benefits for the period May 9th 2019, to May 8th 2023.

This will benefit 35 former members of staff.

The Ministry says the facility also continues to receive significant support, including an annual subvention of $13 million, underscoring Government’s sustained investment in child protection services.

It says caregivers also benefit from ongoing training and capacity-building initiatives provided by its Child Affairs Division and the Children’s Authority.
