Energy Minister Dr. Roodal Moonilal has responded to claims made by former Minister Stuart Young regarding the OFAC licence for the Dragon Gas project.
In a release issued today, Dr. Moonilal stated that under Mr Young’s tenure there was no valid OFAC licence in place.
He added that no English documents outlining the terms of the previous negotiations could be found at the Ministry and questioned whether Mr. Young removed documents before leaving office.
Dr. Moonilal also refuted claims that the previous administration did not spend $100 million on the project, saying records show over $120 million was spent.
He confirmed that the current government has successfully secured a six-month OFAC licence, paving the way for negotiations and future development of the Dragon gas field.
