The Communication Workers Union is calling on TSTT to back up its claim that the cost for its recent board retreat was inflated in a recent report.

According to the union’s Secretary General Joanne Ogeer, the claim was made to it this morning.

She added that if this is true, the company should prove it.

Ms Ogeer also called on Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath to take action, urging him to not be “another Marvin Gonzales”.

The CWU Secretary General told a media conference today that the union had no issue with retreats, but instead believes that austerity should apply to all.

She also described the recent retreat as an “insult to workers and taxpayers” and “an abuse of power and authority”.

There was also a call for Minister in the Public Utilities Ministry, Clyde Elder, who is a former CWU Secretary General, to speak up on issues relating to TSTT.

103.1FM News has reached out to Minister Padarath for a comment and is awaiting a response.
