Efforts are underway to strengthen surveillance at the nation’s airports and prevent human trafficking.
Yesterday, the Counter Trafficking Unit, of the Ministry of Homeland Security, conducted specialised training for aviation and airport personnel at Caribbean Airlines headquarters in Piarco.
Around 100 participants took part in the session, which taught the skills to recognise warning signs of trafficking, respond safely, and report concerns.
Deputy Director Dane-Marie Marshall said trained aviation personnel are a vital line of defence in protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
Officials emphasized the importance of collaboration across the aviation network, including participants from Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and the United States.
