A four-member committee has until August 20th to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of six-year-old Jasher Francois at the San Fernando Teaching Hospital.
It comprises of experts in the areas of Paediatrics, Paediatric Intensive Care, Nursing, Quality Assurance and Law.
Their mandate is to determine whether the proper standard of care, clinical judgement and professional responsibilities were upheld.
So far, two autopsies have been conducted, one at the San Fernando Hospital, and another done privately.
The boy’s father said the family feels vindicated by the findings of the private autopsy done by Professor Hubert Daisley.
Newsday reported that the preliminary findings found that the boy suffered a cardiovascular event which likely came during the intravenous administration of medication.
