The Caribbean’s voice was heard on the global stage this week as the Caribbean Public Health Agency — CARPHA — took part in the 2025 World Health Summit in Berlin, Germany.
CARPHA’s Executive Director, Dr. Lisa Indar, was the only Caribbean speaker at the event, sharing how the region’s small island states face unique health challenges — from fragile health systems to climate change impacts.
Dr. Indar highlighted CARPHA’s advances in disease surveillance and pandemic preparedness, stressing that an outbreak in one Caribbean island can quickly affect the entire region.
The summit gathered over 4,000 participants from 144 countries, uniting global leaders under the theme “Taking Responsibility for Health in a Fragmenting World.”
