Firearms dealer Brent Thomas has urged an independent investigation into the 2022 incident that saw him forcibly removed from Barbados by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and local authorities, describing the experience as life-altering.

In an exclusive interview with Sunday Express journalist Mark Bassant, Thomas raised concerns about possible political interference, saying corridors of power may have influenced decisions surrounding his removal.

He highlighted flaws in the handling of his case, including invalid warrants and missing files, and questioned the lack of transparency from both governments.

Thomas said the ordeal destroyed his business and reputation, making it difficult to rebuild internationally.

Despite this, he expressed continued trust in most public servants and the need for accountability for those responsible.

He called on authorities in Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados to release requested documents, saying the public deserves clarity.

Thomas emphasized that establishing checks and balances is crucial so no citizen faces similar injustice in the future, noting that a truly independent review is necessary to restore confidence in the justice system.

The full interview underscores the human cost of administrative errors and highlights the ongoing call for transparency and accountability in cross-border law enforcement operations.
