UDeCOTT Chairman Shankar Bidaisee says vendors at the Breakfast Shed have been served notice to quit by April 30th after failing to pay rent for several years.
Mr Bidaisee told 103.1FM News that while UDeCOTT offered several notices to liquidate the payment, vendors made no attempt to settle the outstanding rent.
Breakfast Shed tenants are billed monthly and according to Mr Bidaisee, aggregate arrears now total more than seven years and amount to nearly $2 million dollars.
When asked if UDeCOTT would hold discussions, Mr Bidaisee said the matter will proceed legally, with the agency is exercising its right to formally end the tenancy.
The issue first arose last September, when letters were issued to vendors alerting them to the outstanding payments.
It was reported that vendors were vacating their spaces, but Mr. Bidaisee clarified that they were not asked to leave at that time.
