The body of a 40-year-old woman has been retrieved, hours after she went missing during a hike along the Madamas River.

According to a T&T Express report, Jessica Jordan was walking in knee-high water, when she slipped and became lodged between two logs.

It adds that while members of her hiking party tried to free her, rising water along the river submerged Jordan and forced the others to higher ground.

In an update at 6pm yesterday, Vallence Rambharat of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team said after some difficulty, Jordan’s body was recovered.

She was also positively identified by a relative.

Jordan was from St Madeline Village, San Fernando.
