Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles-Robinson says the Prime Minister has insulted the country by calling it a “lawless dump.”
In a social media statement, the Opposition Leader said that such insults are unbecoming of a leader and better describe the current government’s composition.
She also accused the Prime Minister of governing through threats and fear.
Mrs Beckles-Robinson warned that 2026 will be defined by severe economic difficulties as the government is focused on excessive taxation rather than service.
The Opposition leader criticised the raft of new coast increases—including hikes in alcohol prices, customs taxes and NIS contributions—arguing that these punish citizens rather than address the root problems/
Mrs Beckles-Robinson also said government’s “irrational” position on CARICOM will cost the country billions of dollars in revenue.
