A Barrackpore man has been charged with the manslaughter of his father, who died on January 6.
Brandon Lalbeharry, 41, got into an argument with his father, Ramesh Lalbeharry, 65, on 31 December at their home in South Lower Barrackpore.
The deceased was later found semi-conscious and vomiting and was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he remained warded until his death.
Following investigations, Brandon Lalbeharry was arrested on 17 January, and was formally charged on 21 January on the advice of Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions.
He then appeared before the South Criminal Court on 22 January and was granted $400,000 bail with conditions, and the matter was scheduled for future hearings in June and September 2026.
The investigation was led by Detective Sergeant Bridgemohan, assisted by a team of Homicide Officers and Corporal Huggins, under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent Anil Maharaj, all of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Three.
