Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander has defended police actions in the fatal shooting of Joshua Samaroo and the wounding of Kaia Sealy, while signalling possible new laws on the public release of video evidence.

Speaking on Wednesday, Alexander warned against premature judgments based on circulating footage, saying police must protect the integrity of investigations.

He suggested legislation may be needed to curb the publication of clips that fuel public opinion, sparking concerns over freedom of expression.

Alexander called for patience and due process, noting multiple agencies are examining the case.

He also questioned whether bodycam footage, even if available, should be automatically released, highlighting the balance between transparency and investigative integrity.
