Trinidad and Tobago has officially secured an OFAC license to move forward with the Dragon Gas Project.
Attorney General John Jeremie confirmed the details during a media conference at the Office of the Attorney General earlier today.
Mr Jeremie confirmed the license runs until April 2026 and involves a tiered approach, requiring key benchmarks before advancing.
This license is separate from the 30-year exploration license granted by Venezuela, and the Government reiterated that the deal ensures commercial benefits for Trinidad, Venezuela, and U.S. interests, while strictly adhering to U.S. regulations.
He said the project vital to the future of the local energy sector and Government will now move to the next phase of negotiations, however details remain confidential.
