95 specially trained Special Reserve Police Officers will be assigned to schools deemed to be “high-risk”.
According to the TTPS, these officers underwent specialised school-oriented training and form part of the 244 newly sworn-in SRPs who took their oath of office during a ceremony held on Friday at the Marabella South Secondary School.
It says the cohort, comprising 146 men and 98 women, will strengthen the ranks of the TTPS, increasing its presence at a time when the demand for visibility and accessibility is at its highest.
Delivering the feature address, Homeland Minister, Roger Alexander, highlighted the significance of deploying SRPs in schools.
He believes their presence will not only maintain law and order, but also guide, protect and inspire the nation’s youth.
