It was a record-breaking weekend at The UWI St. Augustine Campus, as more than two thousand runners hit the road for the 19th UWI International Half-Marathon and 5K on Sunday.

This year’s event supported the Trinidad and Tobago Alzheimer’s Association, marking its 25th anniversary and raising awareness about dementia.

Kenyan runner Alex Ekesa captured first place in the men’s half-marathon, edging out last year’s winner Tafari Waldron, while Aniqah Bailey claimed the women’s title.

The 5K race also delivered thrilling finishes, with Kerry McLean and Ziya Hosein-Livingstone topping their categories.

Organisers say funds raised will go toward Alzheimer’s care and student athlete scholarships.
