World champion javelin thrower, Keshorn Walcott, has received TT$500,000 from the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs after his victory at the World Athletic Championships in 2025.
The Toco-born javelin thrower took the gold medal at the championships in September 2025 with a throw of 88.16 meters.
Minister of Sport Phillip Watts presented Walcott with his National Incentive and Reward cheque on Wednesday in recognition of his victory.
The Sports Minister applauded Walcott for his continued excellence on the international stage, calling the athlete “a symbol of pride and inspiration for the people and athletes of Trinidad and Tobago.”
“Keshorn continues to represent the best of who we are as a nation, disciplined, resilient, and dedicated to excellence. His example continues to motivate our youth and our sporting community,” Minister Watts added.
Walcott held discussions with the Ministry of Sport on possible collaborations.
The athlete launched the 2026 Golden League of Athletics TT, an initiative that seeks to enhance athletic development and expand opportunities for emerging talent across the nation.
