Venezuela is gathering regional support as US Naval ships move into the southern Caribbean Sea.
Today a summit was held by the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Agreement.
This included delegates from Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Vincent, Dominica, Grenada and St. Lucia.
During this time, Cuba’s President Miguel Díaz-Canel urged countries in the Latin American and Caribbean region to reject “the new colonizing attempt.”
He also called for a meeting of the bloc’s foreign ministers in response to the situation.
This summit followed the deployment of three US military vessels into international waters off Venezuela as part of President Donald Trump’s effort to combat threats from Latin American drug cartels.
