The University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine Campus will host a landmark conference, From Legacy to Future: Renewing Multilateralism in a Changing World, on Monday, October 27, 2025, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.
The joint event, organized by the United Nations in Trinidad and Tobago and the Office of the Campus Principal, will take place at the UWI School of Education Auditorium on Agostini Street, St. Augustine, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The conference will feature an array of distinguished speakers, including UN Resident Coordinator Joanna Kazana, UWI Campus Principal Prof. Rose-Marie Belle Antoine, Permanent Secretary Randall Karim of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, and CARICOM Assistant Secretary-General Elizabeth Solomon.
Other notable participants include Dr. Neil Parsan, Trinidad and Tobago’s Permanent Representative to the UN; Dennis Francis, former UN General Assembly President; UNDP Assistant Resident Representative Sharifa Ali-Abdullah; Mtima Solwazi, CEO of the Roots Foundation; and Dr. Anjani Ganase, coral reef ecologist at the Institute of Marine Affairs.
The event aims to explore the evolving role of multilateralism in addressing global challenges and fostering international cooperation, reflecting on the UN’s enduring legacy while envisioning its future impact.
